Purpose

The Capital Regional Council of Figure Skating Clubs (CRC) is an association of the US Figure Skating Association (USFSA) member clubs in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It is a non-profit educational/athletic organization, chartered in Maryland, and run by parent-volunteers.

The Council was established in 1975 to promote amateur figure skating activities such as tests, competitions, exhibitions and shows, seminars, and judges training and development. It coordinates these activities among its member clubs and serves as a medium for exchanging views and information concerning figure skating. The Council also presents to the USFSA the combined views of its member clubs and, when requested by the clubs, represents them at official USFSA functions such as meetings of the USFSA Governing Council.

Since its inception, the Council has conducted nearly fifty USFSA sanctioned competitions, including South Atlantic Regional and Eastern Sectional qualifying competitions which select competitors for the US National Championships.

Activities

The Council conducts two competitions every year, the CRC Figure Skating Competition in March and the Cherry Blossom Invitational in April.

The Capital Regional Council Figure Skating Competition is open to skaters who are home club members of CRC Member Clubs. The highest level of competition is USFSA Intermediate. The 2008 event is our 34th annual competition and is being held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Mt. Vernon Recreation Center, in Alexandria, Virginia.

The Cherry Blossom Invitational is held annually in April at the Mt. Vernon Ice Rink in Alexandria, Virginia. This year's Cherry Blossom, Thursday through Saturday, April 16-18, 2009, is the 31st annual event. The Cherry Blossom Invitational is open to all qualified eligible skaters who are members in good standing of the USFSA.
