Purpose
The Capital Regional Council of Figure Skating Clubs (CRC) is an association of US Figure Skating (USFS) member clubs in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It is a non-profit educational/athletic organization, chartered in Maryland, and run by volunteers.
The Council was established in 1975 to promote amateur figure skating activities such as tests, competitions, exhibitions and shows, seminars, and judges training and development. It coordinates these activities among its member clubs and serves as a medium for exchanging views and information concerning figure skating. The Council also presents to the USFS the combined views of its member clubs and, when requested by the clubs, represents them at official USFS functions such as meetings of the USFS Governing Council.
Since its inception, the Council has conducted nearly fifty USFSA sanctioned competitions, including South Atlantic Regional and Eastern Sectional qualifying competitions which select competitors for the US National Championships.
Activities
The Council hosts the Cherry Blossom Invitational competition annually in April at the Mt. Vernon Ice Rink in Alexandria, Virginia. The 2012 Cherry Blossom Invitational, will be held April 27 - 29, 2012. The Competition includes Singles, Pairs, Dance (including Solo Dance), Moves, Spins, and Basic Skills events. It is a participating competition for the National Solo Dance Competition Series.
This competition is open to all qualified eligible skaters who are members in good standing of a Member Club of US Figure Skating, Individual Members of USFS, or Basic Skills members. It will be governed by the rules of US Figure Skating as specified in the 2012 Rule Book and the 2011-12 Basic Skills Competition Manual. The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for all Singles, Pairs, and Dance events Juvenile and higher, and for the Championship, Masters, and Gold levels of Adult Singles, Pairs and Dance. The "6.0" judging system will be used for all other events.
